Answer» When I run windows repair from the windows CD it takes me to dos at the C:\ prompt Is there any other way to run repair.....Not restoreRepair Install? What Operating System?Sounds like you are in the Recovery CONSOLE...which is different. What exactly do you want to do on this MACHINE and what are the symptoms ? ? There are some things that can be FIXED from where you are now.when I go to control panel and try to start.... add/remove programs does not work the other programs in control panel works.... seemes to be a problem with rundll32.exe have replaced that file.... worked with evilfantasy... did all the scans they wanted me to with no luck thought I would try repairGo to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter... Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it. Let it finish...remove the CD and re-boot.when i run sfc/scannow it locks upIs this a legit XP CD that has fancy holograms all over it ? ?Yes it is.....XP Prosfc/scannow is not sfc /scannowsorry......Typ-o in replySo you tried Scannow with the space? When you SAY it 'locks up', how long are you leaving it for?It worked this time...but I have left it run for hours....did not fix my problem...I will KEEP trying something else.....Thank for your responces |
