Answer» Hi, I got an Acer Aspire 4736Z. I did try this with both newly formatted windows xp / 7 and both shutdown while booting up. Sometimes, i manage to see the desktop for a while, then it shutdown without any ERROR or warning. Sound's like overheat, yes, i did tear it all apart & do cleaning, all the fans, apply thermal paste & still happened. The laptop won't shutdown if i let the system on BIOS or in windows xp safe mode. I dont think it is a virus because it is formatted, freshly, and so many times. Any ideas are appreciated since i am stuck here. From what you say, this would appear to be a driver or chip set issue. I did swap the HDD & this drive is good with my other computer. 100% sure the drive not fail.
I ALSO update the BIOS to the latest version before this, but it's not about BIOS.

Sorry to confuse you, i did not upgrade it.
I try install windows xp 1st, and windows 7. I test with both OS, not upgrade, its a clean install.
