Solve : windows update?

Answer»

i am using win7 home basic 64 bit....
i done a full computer scan by avg internet security 2011 and regular smart scan by iobit malware fighter 1.4......as usual didn't find any threat in both cases...
but when the win updates is not started after making internet connection....i manually checked it.......
the below attached box opens......

i didn't done any install or uninstall.....or any other change in startup since last successful updates.......
i am using a dial up connection...and think that it can't affect at least on speed prospective......
please help...

[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]As i'm sure you know dial up is a seldom used internet connection anymore (except where no other option exists). Undoubtedly the slowness of the DATA transfer plus random connection interruptions common to dial up can be very adverse to large downloads (which updates often are), Add to that that i believe modern operating systems such as win 7 are not designed around using dial up. Also there are issues with certain modems when it comes to integration with certain operating systems. If you do have an option to go to some form of high speed service that would be my 1st recommendation. However failing that here is an anecdote from another web site involving the same issue and how it got resolved. It may or may not be applicable to your SITUATION. good luck.truenorth

Visit our Malware section for a cleanup.thanks truenorth and patio.....
but in my thinking service can not be launched means something messed the registries.....and dial up modem is not a big prob as per my needs.....it worked well with other requirments.....other than this wiered day.......

normally i am not a messer of registry values.....
but i think my pc optimizer so called advance system care 5.4 do it when it performs scans.....as reg cleaning and reg defrag.....

may be there will be a problam....if so please guide me to the exact registry value......
thanks in advance.....I do not think many (if any) CH members are going to assist you with alterations to the O/S registry. The prevailing feeling by experienced members (particularly for most computer users) would be to NOT fool around in the registry. That would also include NOT using any programs that tout part or all of their actions to be in regards to registry "cleaners". If you have such a program installed were i you i would remove it forthwith or even fifthwith. truenorthTry removing AVG and Iobit as suggested by truenorth. Download and Install Microsoft Security Essential as your antivirus and Malwarebytes and then use a full system scan alternately on both. Make sure they are updated before scanning. RPC local service startup service just needed to be SET to Manual. Sory for being so lazy.......in fact it was my work which let me do so.....
thx guys i hav uninstalled the avg internet security 2011....problam not solved....again installed mse ....updated scanned full system....problam was same.....
uninstalled advance system care as suggested......none good......downloaded malwarebyte scanned ........no more to help myself......

So i again installed advance system care ....used it's win fix menu......fix windows update menu......and all gone too smooth.......
all things are going too well.......

But one noticable thing ....i got that my system is running much smoother from before..........perheps that's effect of removing AVG .........the system resourses are now more free.......
but on security aspects.......mse is much less than avg internet security........but more handy.....

Thanks xperts.....Glad to see your up and running well again.Would really urge you if it is available (particularly DSL from a cost point of view) to get high speed if you can. It will greatly enhance your computer experience and once you have it you will never want to go back to dial-up.truenorththanks for your warm advice truenorth....
i'll look for that....
but i am not glad at mse at least for it's slow speed scaning......tooo slow than avg....

else is good.......

I've used MSE on my Win 7 system and seems to be far better to their predecessor and more likely to AVG. You might want to install on-demand scanners - malwarebytes and superantispyware. i have already downloaded malwarebyte....
that's nice
and going on well....
yup 1st time scan was too slow.....but after first scan ,when the FILES are cached with it, it's comparabl to the avg.....yes sir yuo are right......
thanks for advice.....
