Solve : Windows virtual memory minimum too low?

Answer»

hi, I Just reinstall my fathers' Dell Computer and after I put Gothic 3 and put the patch in... including windows update, it still saying "Windows virtual memory minimum too low" . He has a pentium 4 cpu 3.00 ghz 504 Ram

service pack 2

he also has a ATI Radeon x1300.

I use Spyware doctor and hijackthis.

He also told me only when he has Gothic 3 on this happens... "Windows virtual memory minimum too low".

This has never happen, I have the same programs on. The only new program That I do have is the Spyware doctor.

I hope that help and thanks .

SpiderIf you have Windows XP, here's where you can change the virtual memory:

Open your control panel, and open "System" (or give a RIGHT click on "My Computer" on your desktop, and select "Properties".

Click on the "Advanced" tab.

There you see "Performance" with a "Settings" button. Click that button.
Now the "Performance OPTIONS" window will open.
Click on the "Advanced" tab. There you'll see "Virtual memory" with a change button. Click that button.

Now BEFORE you change anything, please post back here with the amounts that are currently used.Set both upper and lower values to 768Mg.

Save the changes and Exit.

p.s. It may be the vid card lacking for that game...check the game minimums...He has XP Home, sorry about that!
I look at his specs and when I saw 504 Ram it didn't look right.... He should have 512 Ram but it says 504 Ram.

his PCI card now which I can't believe that my fathers' using for game performance is insane. He dosn't have a AGP Controler is 256MB.

The paging file size is:
Initial Size (mb) 756
Maximum size (mb) 1512

I'm going to reset the ram and see what happens first... if nothing happens... I GUESS I'll test the ram.

what do you think???

let me KNOW!

thanks spider.

They have some patch here:
http://support.aspyr.com/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=448
which, AMONG other fixes:
Quote

fixes an issue where trying to save a game would
crash/hang the program with a memory related errormessage
I fix it!
would you believe that one of the Ram was not all the way in.... that's why it was reading 504 ram.

I thought that was strange.... there's no such thing.

the order it goes:64mb,128mb,256mb,512mb,1gb ect.

It happens once in a life time but not always.

thanks for getting back everyone

Merry Christmas
