Solve : windows Vista decryption for XP encryption?

Answer»

I was using my office laptop running XP professional. I CONNECTED my usb drive and the folders got auto encrypted. Since i don't have the work laptop anymore, i'm stuck as i'm unable to decrypt the files. I'm currently using Windows Vista Home Premium, having the full admin privileges. Any ideas on how to decrypt the files now ?Nothing gets "auto-encrypted" without a prompt...

Well, as i said earlier, its a work computer and they have some kinda security patch where in at every restart the folders/files are applied encryption.

Anyways, LETS not DISCUSS that. The question is, could the files encrypted in Win XP be decrypted in Vista (with admin privileges) ?almost anything encrypted can be decrypted. Even stuff from XP using Vista. The real problem is how to do it.

Now think about this....why did your work encrypt them to begin with? Maybe a reason is so someone who copied the files from work and took them home to try to read couldn't? humm Sounds about right to me.

lol .... I understand what you are SAYING. That is why they have that encryption patch. Anyways, the problem is my personal folders got encrypted too in my usb drive like my timesheet etc .... but then you would say the same stuff about copying work files.

Thanks anyways guys, i'm asking them to give back the same laptop i worked on for a couple minutes so I could decrypt and give them back ... its just a help from them.

Cheers!!
