Answer» I have just reinstalled WINDOWS XP, but I can only set my display properties to a maximum of 16 colours and a screen resolution 800x600. I THOUGHT Windows XP was meant to detect my graphics card for me. Is it faulty?XP can't always detect the graphics card and from your description I THINK you need to install the graphics card driver. Depending on your system, you may have ONE on a driver or motherboard CD that came with the computer.everytime I've reinstalled XP, I've had to install the card's own graphics driverOnce again, reinstall the drivers and you should be OK.
