Solve : Windows XP Activation Issues? |
|
Answer» Hey guys, long time no see. How are we all? Just had a bit of a query. A friends PC had the "ehjalrp.exe" and "quqnrtl.exe" viruses on it, and because me and another mate were at the forefront for the English research on this virus, the friend asked me to remove it for them. I did so, but it had damaged part of her system and an XP Repair install was needed. I did so, and upon trying to boot up for the first time, I attempted to login. When I did so, it popped up saying I needed to activate XP or be logged off (which it normally doesn't do to me on a repair install, it gives me a few days), which I had no problem to do (because this is a legit copy), however, the problem arose when I tried to activate - each time I do, it will FREEZE, no matter what method I use, or what PC - be it really old or brand new. So I've come to the conclusion that the activation files are PROBABLY corrupt or SOMETHING, but what can I do to get past this? I've tried a few registry tweaks (generally illegally used, but because I know this system is legit, I don't have an ethical problem with it), but they didn't work, which again reinforced the conclusion that it is the activation files that are corrupted. Any suggestions? Thanks |
