Answer» I have a home computer that had the HARD drive fail. It was bought 3 years ago from a large box retailer with no windows xp INSTALL disks. It has the windows product key code on the computer itself. My question is there anyway to get a copy of windows xp to work on the new hard drive I will install? Or will I have to BUY a new copy on Win xp? I do have other COMPUTERS with Win XP on them, THOUGH the others are Dells and I think they just have reinstall discs? Any help would be great. Thanks, bhenryYou will be able to use any Official MS XP disk to reinstall as the activation is tied to the product ID on your machine. You need to make sure it is the same version i.e. XP Pro with SP2 or XP Home with SP2. Activation by phone with MS you can ask them about getting a replacement CD although it may cost you $ $
