Solve : Windows XP doesn't see Network card? |
|
Answer» Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. It seemed a to be a toss up between here or the hardware section. I'm doing a clean install of XP with service Pack 2 on a a Think pad T42. Everything went really smooth until I tried to connect to the internet. For some reason XP doesn't register a NETWORK card. I followed the advice here to look under Components for the type of card so I could download a driver but that didn't help much. This is the basic information it had. Does the BIOS see it / did you install the drivers for the motherboard? I'm not sure about the bios but I did not install anything for the motherboard. Should I download the Bios from the page Spoiler LINKED and install that? Thanks for the helpQuote from: Spoiler on May 14, 2008, 07:35:00 AM Are you using the right drivers? I downloaded the drivers from that page for the ethernet card but since XP doesn't see a specific network card it won't recognize it as the right driver. Thanks for the helpQuote from: ale52 on May 14, 2008, 07:56:10 AM Does the BIOS see it / did you install the drivers for the motherboard? Ok I checked the Bios and it says that both the network device and wireless network device are enabled.Any drivers for a laptop should always come from the laptop manuf. website...laptops are finicky about drivers. You may need to re-install the MBoard drivers first as sometimes they need to be done in a certain order. |
