Solve : Windows XP Freezing?

Answer»

I am trying to fix my grandmas computer. I am not too FAMILIAR with computers, but know enough to navigate my way around! The computer just came BACK recently from the Geek Squad at Best Buy with a new anti-spy ware on it. It's web root. Now, when the computer STARTS up, it starts up normal until the desktop comes up. After about 30-60 seconds a icon and balloon at the bottom pops up and says that there is a problem with the firewall, (the Windows one) and that it's turned off, click this balloon to fix the problem. As soon as that icon pops up the computer freezes.. You can move the mouse and cursor, even click on things but NOTHING happens when you do. .Only option from the is to manually turn off the computer. Any idea on how I can fix this? Like I said, I'm not too familiar with the comp lingo, so if you could be a bit specific that would be awesome!.. Thanks a ton in advance! How long have you waited after you turned it on? Leave it for a while and don't do anything for a few minutes and if it becomes responsive then:

Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Press enter
Click startup tab
Uncheck All of them
Press OK
Reboot

Does problem still occur?Try going to Windows Services. Click Start--> Run-->type services.msc--> click Ok --> Look for Windows Firewall and check the Startup Type(Default is Automatic). If its other than default, right-click and choose Properties. Change it to default(automatic) and click "Apply". Try rebooting the computer.
