Solve : Windows xp home edition upgrade help, hal.dl error message? |

Answer» Ever since my power went out when i try to start my computer i get the message, windows can not start because your hal.dl file is either missing or CORRUPT. i tried to go into the recovery console but it never asks me what installation i have or my admin. PASSWORD. when i type in bootcfg\list or bootcfg\rebuild it just says ACCESS denied. i am running the windows xp home edition UPGRADE. i had windows ME before that. when i put in the home edition cd it says cannot read the cd or the cd is not a valid windows cd. i bought it at best buy brand new. do i have to load the windows ME one first if i want to do a repair or reinstall and then the xp home edition upgrade? nothing seems to be working. any help will be greatly appreciated.
