Solve : Windows XP Image? |
|
Answer» HEY everyone.. I want to make a XP image and deploy it to multiple other systems. I have a question, what about LICENSES? if i make an image and RESTORE it to an other system im sure i will have problems with the license KEY since its an other system. Can anyone help? Does anyone know a proper way of doing this whole proces? Thanks in advance. GucciThis will not work. when the OS is installed it runs a check of everything on the system so when you restore it to another machine you will get blue screens and driver problems. If you have a lot of machines to load you MIGHT want to look into the System Preparation tool. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838080It WILL work if all of the systems use identical hardware. Also, certain imaging software claim to be able to restore to any system, regardless of hardware. Regarding license issues, you need to contact Microsoft. And in the real world how offen does someone have identical hardware? You are right Allen but in most cases people use the System Preparation tool. All the time.2 Topics the OP needs to read up on are Volume Liscensing deals from MS and unattended installation images...so what do u people recommend me? Using the Microsoft Preperation tool or something else? Cause the systems i use are all from the same supplier, which means they got the same hardware etc.. So that wouldn't be any issue for the drivers right.. What concerns me are the license issues.. will i be able to change my product key after restoring the image?
