Solve : Windows XP loooong boot time!?

Answer»

we have some users running windows XP with sp2 that are experiencing a looooong boot time. between 10-15 minutes on 'applying computer settings' after typing in their Domain password. Has anyone run into this??Is this like at a school where you log in with a specific account and it loads your personal settings?
YES, I suppose it would be equivilant to that. We are not in school but in the WORKPLACE. I'm not very good at this stuff, but perhaps there is something wrong with the server where all the accounts are on...
Hang on a bit and someone will come with an answer.

I do have a question though, are you in the workplace know?
Yes, I am at work. I don't think it's a problem with our Domain Controller - the problem is not happening to everyone. Don't really SEE any ERROR in the event log on the user's machine.. kinda baffling. It sounds to me like you are having problems connecting to the server to verify the account
Here are a few suggestions:

Check the LAN cable from the PC to the wall port to make sure it is good. Or replace it.
Test the cable in the wall port to the patch panel.
test the patch panel cable to the switch.
Update NIC drivers

Have fun.
My Network guy has pretty much done all of that already.. I'll have to keep poking around : ) thanks!Log on as an administrator remove your profile and then re-log on as you so that it creates a new profile. If it still takes a long time then I would think you have a connectivity problem with the server.
