|
Answer» i decided to install xp pro on my comp and it was a big mistake this thing hangs and freezes won't download updates and stops in the middle and nothing so whats the deal is xp a bad op or just my comp is screwy. Neither. It is most likely you who tried to overwrite a previous installation of Windows (XP) without reformatting the Hard Disk Drive and/or partition(s) first. Bmac: The boot.ini file is what XP uses to GIVE you the option of choosing what operating system to start when you have more than one installed. A repair installation should replace the damaged boot.ini file: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx Let us know if you need more help. Of course, if you have more RAM it is a very good thing. I mean 512 MB, 1 GB or more. Tell us your computer configuration. When I do a fresh Windows install I create a partition "big" enough for windows (let's say 10-20 GB); I format it (NTFS, but you could choose FAT if you know what the risks are) and then install on it.thanks guys for all the help i fied the problem by installing a differant disk . the other on e was FOUND to have been scratched up its working fine now.thanks all of you for the suggestions and help. bmacgurk viking, just to let you know that my comp has 512mbs of ram and a 20gig hard drive so its not lacking in HORSEPOWER and space thanks for helping bmacgurk |
