Answer» Hi, I'm in serious need of help, when the loading screen for XP appears after 2 bars the computer reboots intself and presents me with the options to run in safe mode etc. which do not work. I have tried to do a repair install however i am not presented with the repair option where you select which partition you want to install xp on.
Right now I have 3 partitions, Main One (C:) which is unknown whereas D: is NTFS and so is E:. I have the program Acronis Disk Director Suite+True Image recovery on boot disc. Using this program I can easily see all the files in my C:(corrupted) drive such as my documents which have most of the files i want!!! Using Acronis i have created a backup file of my documents( a tif file??)
I had the idea of installing Windows on another partition and transferring all the files from the corrupt drive to the new partition however when i try to choose it says i must format the drive which i thought meant the whole HARD drive I didn't want to take the risk of losing everything so i quickly shut down the setup.
I've used Partition Magic 8 to scan the corrupt drive but it says Critical meaning catastrophic something and it can't fix it. However i was able to see all the files in the drive using acronis.
Im out of ideas of what to do now and hope you guys would know what my best option might be? I just want to get my SYSTEM back to what it was without losing the files i want. I don't mind losing the programs but maybe there's a way in which i can fix the windows files in my corrupt drive or something? If you need anymore information please tell me. Thank you
