Answer» d**n right it is
I'm in the process of trying to remove it now. There's 1 last screw (the 16th one) that I can't seem to get loose. These screws are TINY. And my tiny screw driver is beginning to strip this one. I just can't get it out. It's holding the top of the case to the motherboard, which is mostly screwed to the bottom half of the case. In order to get to those screws to remove that BOARD and get to the drive under it, I have to get this top off.
Patio, can you give me a link to where you read about that? I'd like to see it to make sure I'm going at this the right WAY.
I've taken laptops apart before, and I've never seen one as difficult to get into as this one.
-=Update=- Ok, got the screw out.
-=Update=- Still struggling with screws. Seems the ones in the motherboard are as tight as that last one.The lack of available information on this hard drive has brought me to a terrible result...
It's a Toshiba MK6006GAH 1.8" drive (see picture). The connector is different from most normal laptop drives (I mean the 2.5" ones). Honestly, I think I'm screwed.
As you can see from the connector on this drive, it won't WORK with the 2.5" USB box I have. Any suggestions?
-=Update=- Nevermind, I found there's an available adaptor for 1.8" Toshiba drives like this one.
[saving disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Alright, I managed to get a hold of the adaptor I need. The drive is connected to this computer now and is functioning fine, so it must simply be something was screwed up with Windows. I'm running a virus scan now before I start copying FILES. When (or if) I find out what caused Windows to act this way, I'll post it.
...I just hope I can put this laptop back together when the time comes...

Ok, that's all it found. All of them have been reported as cleaned (actually deleted).Run AVG Anti-Spyware and Stinger on there just to be sure. You may then want to DLoad and run Hijack This...save the log as a text file and post it in the Virus and Spyware section so our Resident Guru's can have a look...
DO NOT let it fix anything until advised...That won't be necessary. The only files she needed from the drive have already been backed up and the drive is being formatted at this very moment. This computer is tighter than Ft. Knox, and nothing raised an alarm while copying. As soon as the format is finished, I'll begin the wonderful process of trying to put this laptop back together.
-=Update=-
Laptop is back together. Seems to be working alright so far, beginning the restoration of the system.Excellent news QUAXO and you are to be commended for your sticktoitiveness....
Laptops... Well, it's back together and working fine now. No problems at all. Thanks for the assistance!
