Solve : Windows XP Users (auto log in)?

Answer»

I know I've done this before, now for some reason I can't REMEMBER how.

With Windows XP Professional, when the computer boots, I want it to automatically log in to a specific user without going to the welcome screen. The user account does not have a password, and it's the only active account other than Administrator.

Through the advanced interface for editing user ACCOUNTS (Start->Run->'Control Userpasswords2'), if I disable "Users must enter a user name and password", then it automatically logs into the administrator account, which I don't want it to do. I want it to go straight into the user account I created, and for the life of me I can't remember how to do it... lolIt is in control userpasswords2.

Run it,
Uncheck users must enter a username and password for this computer
click apply

On my computer a dialog box pops up "Enter the user you want LOGGED on and their password etc"
Fill that in
click ok

Like I said, I've tried that. It's not asking me for a user name or giving me something to fill in. It's ignoring the other account and just logging the administrator in. Then I have to log out of the administrator account, which takes me to the welcome screen where I have select the user account again.Have you tried turning "off" Fast User switching ? ?
This SOMETIMES sticks it to one logon only...Yeah, it's off too.

This still has me confused. For some reason, no matter what I do, it still won't log in the way I want it.You can use TweakUI for XP to solve it...
Careful there though...there's some semi-dangerous tweaks in there so back up the registry first.
You've been warned... I don't know why I hadn't thought of that before. I forgot you can set that in TweakUI.
