Answer» This did not use to be a problem. Now when click SHUT down computer, I get windows shutting down screen but this screen stays on - NEVER actually shuts down. Have to turn power to computer off. What could be causing this. Thanks,Update windows.Hi George, do you see a message saying that it is now SAFE to shut down Windows, or does it just hang? If it is just HANGING then follow this CLEANUP routine, especially where the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service is concerned. If something has happend to disable APM, and you see the message, then you just need to see if it is set properly... You need to have installed the support tools from your XP CD to use the above command.
