My computer (sony vaio laptop) shut down and now will only load in safe mode.  I have tried setting it back to a previous date, that didn't work.  I have tried going to the prompt and trying several things suggested from VARIOUS website and still nothing.  I have gone to last KNOWN good configuration, nothing!  I can get to nothing on my computer but the very minimum.  I have files from I can't lose. Please help! When you're in safe mode, try disabling/uninstalling all the obvious hardware -- mice, webcam drivers, sound card, etc.  See if you can boot into WIndows regularly after that.When you try to enter Normal Startup mode, do you see any errors?
If so, what do you see?

What virus protection did you have installed?
And will Safemode with Networking work?

Windows Repair Install It won't open in Normal.  It just continues to restart itself. 
Yes I can load safemode with networking.   I can't get online from that computer at all.  I am using my daughters RIGHT now.
I have a virus protection but I can't remember it's name.  I think it is Mc affee?
