Solve : Windows XP Won't Turn On!?

Answer»

I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop and I haven't used it for a while. Now, when I plug it in and press the button the screen is a blackish-blue color then it switches to black. The light on the keyboard shows that it is still on. I LEFT the laptop with the black screen for about 3 hours and nothing happened. What should I do? (It doesn't even come to the Windows XP start up thing or the welcome screen....)

Nope! Nothing! Just blue and black screen. No text at all.Quote from: jason2074 on November 27, 2011, 11:21:12 PM
Try using an external monitor.

I'm afraid I don't know what that is... Please REMOVE the main battery and power adapter lead from the laptop (ie both power sources out)
Hold the laptop ON button in for 20 secs, then let go.
Put the power CORD in only
Turn on.

Did it work?
If so, shutdown and refit the battery again, all is good. Quote from: OstriMonk on November 28, 2011, 08:12:44 PM

An ordinary monitor like you use with a desktop computer.
