would you recommend me installing the shutntdown patch from http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm that merlin_2 POSTED?Ok guys, i just want to thank everbody for your help.  I installed the APMstat from the xp cd and enabled it like you said mac, and it WORKED.  I'm so happy now that its turning off the way its supposed to.
Thanks again.  you dont know how happy i am that it works.  thank you and everybody else that helped me SOLVE this problem Which is the shutdown patch!well, on that website that you sent me, almost at the bottom of the page, theres something that says Shutntdown patch.. but its no big deal, i got the problem fixed.. i installed the apmstat and enabled it, and now the computer works fine, thanks.MERLIN meant that the patch is the exact same as what you have done.ohh, im sorry.. i misread it.  I thought you were asking me.  Sorry i didnt know that this patch was the same.  i was going to try that but i decided to try the apmstat from the Xp cd First, and if that didnt work then i was going to try the patch.  I thought that the patch was different, because when i read the description, it said that it was going to change something in my registry.. which i didnt mind, but they just SEEMED like two different things..
