Answer» Ok, so I recently built myself a new computer, and am looking to GET rid of my previous computer: An XP run eMachine. Only, I need to know how to wipe the memory. And if I do, will the OS stay? Or would the new RECIPIENT have to re-install it (as I dont think I still own the disks...).
So essentially, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me the basics of wiping a comps memory (how-to, what not to do, dangers, etc.).
Thanks in advance. Doiing a full wipe CLEANS everything off the hard drive. You will no longer have windows loaded on the machine.
If you want to sell it with Windows than you would have to reload it.
There are 3rd party programs out there on the web that you can use to wipe your system clean. Use google to do a search. I am also sure some people here can suggest a free ones.
They all work PRETTY MUCH the same. They write data to the drive over and over so your data is gone and can't be read.
