Solve : Wiping Out A Drive?

Answer»

A friend is planning to get rid of an old COMPUTER. He has been running WINDOWS (I'm not sure which version- I THINK it's XP), and wants to make sure the HARD drive on the computer is wiped clean. He asked me what is the simplest way to do this. I know of several methods, but wondered if anyone had a suggestion to answer his question.
TomWell, he might use the WindowsXP CD to remove the PARTITION(s) on the drive, or he could run a program like Darik's Boot And Nuke, though DBAN takes a while to run. Thanks, I'll pass the advice along.
TomDBAN is good program in my opinion and best of all it is free: http://dban.sourceforge.net/ Yes, I'm given to understand that removing a partition removes all the data on that partition, but I've used DBAN two or three times, and I like it.
