Answer» Hi guys! My brother has got a slight problem, the shortcut for the wireless intenet is missing. It should appear next to the clock in the lower right corner but it is not there, and it is also missing from the control panel--->network CONNECTIONS... so he cant connect to our wireless network.. Anyone know how to fix this prob? Thanx
The network connections window looks like this
Check your DEVICE manager and see if it finds it. (right click My Computer -> Manage) If it's disabled, enable it. If it has problems, let us know. If it's not even there, let us know. We'll need more information about your pc as well. (CPU, RAM, HDD space, OS, brand, etc.)thanx for the reply.. i checked it on my computer, there ot was but it was not even there on my brothers (the one with the problem) So what can i do? It is a new hp laptop, xp sp2, amd turion x2, 1.6 ghz, 1gb ram, 100 gb hd.. yeah what more is there to SAY...Is it internal wireless? If there is a WAY to turn the wireless off via a HARDWARE switch or button, turn it off and then back on a few seconds later (while windows is running). It should recognize the hardware change and make the necessary system changes. it have not got a on/off button, so we pulled out the power plug and but it back on, so it basicly was like a on/off button, but nothing happend.. Just right click on the icon in the Network setting window(the icon in the window in ur pic) and choose properties. Then tick this box

Look for a small button somewhere on the edge of the front or sides of the laptop. Newer models have built-in wireless and it can be disabled/enabled with that button.
Alan <>< In fact there will be a button, somewhere. It's there so you can switch it off when running on battery only, so the battery lasts longer.
It could be a slider, or a button, or something...but it will be there.it has got the button you mentioned, but nothing happends when i swith it on/off...
And the image, where the box was to be checked, i did it, nuthin happened Really confused...does anybody know any solution?? Plz!!!What happened when you switched the wireless off? Did Windows make a disconnect sound? Watch the device manager for any changes when you switch it off and see if an extra network connection loads up. Let us know exactly what happens.
