Solve : Wlan makes my computer skip?

Answer»

When I'm running my WLAN and windows xp pro my computer skips every 10-30 seconds.  It freezes for a second and then recovers.  Any ideas how to FIX it?

I just updated the drivers for my wlan and it didnt fix the skipping.

Thanks in advanceQuick question:  Does your computer does this when you are using a cat 5 cable to the router/switch?have you got wlan encypted??......SCAN for trojans etc.....CHECK the firewall logs??for anybody port scanning your system??How much memory does your computer have? You MIGHT need to add some more to speed things up...

[glb]Flame[/glb]It doesnt skip when Im connected to the lan through a cable, it only skips when Im using the wireless.  I've scanned for trojans and viruses.  I have 1 gb of ram,  ram might be an issue now that I think about it.

The computer sometimes restartes with a blue screen "Physical Memory Dump."

I turn on/off the wlan with a button on my computer.  Theres a wireless button to turn it off/on.  Could this be an issue?  Should I try  leaving it on and just turing the wireless on/off using the Wireless Connection Icon? Quote

It would appear that the WLan is creating this situation
have you tried what you proposed to see ?
Has it ever worked properly or is this something that has just started ?
Could you please explain what you mean by my pc skips every 10 - 30 seconds ? Skips what ?
let us know

I'm not really sure if it has just started or not.  Ive never had WLAN before so I kept the WLAN off.

Just as a cd would skip it just completely halts or freezes for for about .5 - 1 seconds.  Everything the computer is doing stops and freezes for about half or one second.

Any sounds are stopped and delayed for about 1 second and PICK up where they left off.  The LCD screen freezes for 1 second and then CATCHES up.

I dont really know how to describe it, the whole computer just halts and then starts after 1 second.  have you got the router near a moblie phone...is the router on the wall next to an electrical source?? Have you scanned for bugs and scanners yet........for you wlan to skip/dip.......someone maybe acccessing your system!!try and move the router??Try to find an updated driver / firmware on your product's website (is it a dlink?).

If all updated, have you recently done a Windows Update? That solves quite a few errors.

Finally, if those dont work, try a BIOS flash from your PC supplier's website
