Solve : Would this video card work??

Answer»

I'm not sure if this goes here, sorry if it doesn't. But anyway, I'm planning on getting a new desktop soon, and because I'm planning on using it mainly for gaming purposes, I want to get a new video card for it also. This is the desktop and video card:
HP - Pavilion Elite Desktop with AMD Phenom™ II X4 Quad-Core Processor
Model e9120y (Windows VISTA)
RAM : 8GB
Hard Drive Space : 1TB
Total Extension Slots : 3 PCI X1 (Two Available) 1 PCI-E x16 (None Available)
Video Card (That comes with the desktop) : ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics 512 MB
Processor : AMD Phenom™ II X4
Processor SPEED : 2.6GHz

And this is the video card I'm planning to buy :
PNY - XLR8 NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT EE 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card
Video Memory : 512MB
Interface Slot Type : PCI-Express x16
System Requirements : 1GB RAM; 100MB free hard drive space; optical drive; PCI Express-compliant motherboard; available PCI Express x16 slot; 550W power supply
Additional System Requirements : Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors

I'm just plucking information off the products on bestbuy, so yeah. I don't know too much about the system itself. Thanks.Yes that will do you proud if your gaming.. and it's updatable if necessary. Thanks, I wasn't too sure because it said the PCI-E x16 slot wasn't available, so yeah. What do you want it for?Doesn't the video card need a PCI-E x16 slot? o_o. It's part of the System Requirements. Quote from: fairfrozen25 on September 26, 2009, 08:05:59 AM

Quite right I MISSED that doh... My mind was elsewhere.. heh  Okay, I know that I'm bumping up a old thread and all, but after days of looking around, I started to WONDER, WOULD the graphics card be able to be inserted and properly run with the desktop ( With it not having an AVAILABLE PCI-E x16 slot? )
-EDIT-
I would also like it know if the video card and the desktop together would really be good enough to run games such as Call of Duty, Crysis, or Huxley on it's highest detail. And, off topic I guess, I'd like to see if anybody could recommend me a decent desktop to run those games if this desktop doesn't meet my expectations.
-EDIT2-
One more thing while I'm at it. After a bit more surfing, I found that VisionTek - ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card is also a good graphics card for gaming. It's $10 more than the Nvidia 9800, and some people say it's better, so, I'd like to take opinions on this.

VisionTek - ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card :

Video Memory : 1GB GDDR5
Interface Slot Type : PCI Express x16
Type of Processor : ATI RADEON HD 4870
Number of Processors : 1
System Requirements : 1GB RAM; available PCI Express x16 slot; 500W or greater power supply; CD-ROM drive

I'm not too sure about the desktop's watt/power supply amount, it's worrying me a bit, may someone who knows please help me on this?
