Answer» Hi hoping someone can help me with this problem. I was trying to create new multiple partitions on a 200GB hard drive using XP's disk management utility. I deleted the existing partition in order to create free space with which to allocate the new ONES. However when I did this although the partition was deleted it only showed me 128GB of free space and changed the capacity of the drive to 128GB. When I look at the drive in the BIOS it still shows a 200GB drive but XP refuses to see the full capacity. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanksis this the main hard drive or a backup. Is the harddrive NTFS or FAT? FAT has a maximum drive size I think...
Is that TYPE of harddrive SUPPORTED by your computer's other hardware?
You could try reformatting and starting again from scratch maybe? But then you'll lose everything on the drive. Thanks for the replies but I DISCOVERED the problem. Turns out XP doesn't support DRIVES larger than 128GB until you upgrade to SP1. It works now but this still doesn't explain why the drive was working fine at 200 until I tried to format ??
