What was wrong with your machine?
reply to spoiler -prob is can/t START windows EG get the "WELCOME"the pc keeps going back to"advanced options menu" where i have tryed each choice safe mode, last good config, restore , all of them just goes back to "advanced menu"What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?when it was opening i/d get a box saying "this program is recovering from a serious error" &send error report which i did about 4 times nothing new or installed ran ccleaner /spybots/d&have avast anti virus found nothingOkay. Well, without knowing what caused the problem it's it's very difficult to diagnose. Let's try a repair install and see if we can get you back in business. Boot to your XP CD and choose the SECOND repair option, allowing XP to install on TOP of itself. If successful, you'll need to go to Windows Update and re-download and install all updates.does that mean i will loose all my original stuff ?I have a xp disc but it/s sp2 &i/ve got sp3 is it o.k. to use?No and No. When done properly, all programs and settings will remain intact. But you must use the same version as is installed. You can create a slipstream disc (see the three links below):
