Answer» Hi Folks, 1s TIME user here, discovered the website & HOPING someone can help. I have a Sony Vaio Laptop with XP home as an op system, 256 MB Of Ram & a New Hard drive put in as the last one died. The Problem is the computer keeps crashing & restarting in the middle of programs mainly Photoshop 7.0, after the computer restarts, it tells me it has recovered from a technical error and asks me to send a report to microsoft which i do but to no avail. I have updated my drivers. The error that keeps apprearing is the following
c:\windows\minidump\mini050906-02.dmp c:\documn1\garrett\locals-1\temp\wor5tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml
I am not sure if this problem has occured since the new hard drive was INSTALLED as I didnt use the computer a lot previous to the new drive going in. Is it possibly a memory problem?Photoshop being a big drain on the system Any help would be appreciatedok, what is the proccessor speed? as a warning, 256 is the MINIMUM amount of ram that xp can run on, i would advise upgrading to 512, i have never had good experiences with xp runnin on anything lower than 512. shouldnt cost much to upgrade, and should fix the prob, photo shop is VERY demanding of your system.Well, actually XP can run on 128 RAM. It's just not very pleasant.
Who repaired the laptop? Was there any warranty on it? How long ago was it done? Did you have a real XP CD to reinstall with? Has it had problems ever since the repair? If not when did it start? spyware and virus protection?
