Solve : XP or Vista and then to MS 7 - What to chose??

Please excuse my English, I am Dutch living in France.

My knowledge of HW & SW is average.

I just started my company in France (in and export). I need to change my 5 years old laptop IBM R50e and decided to buy a Mac Book (for traveling). At my home office I want to use this Mac Book as a “docking station” with a separate keyboard and large screen.

I will use my Mac Book then for business purposes: database (Outlook based) and MS office. For private use I only use Picasa to place our pictures on Google.

My old IBM laptop will be used by my SON of 7 years. For my new Mac Book I need to install, before I can buy the new MS OS 7, an OS. My question is. Which one should I install XP or Vista? Would you please be so kind to recommend me? Thank you.

For a five year old laptop I would recommend XP or 2000 professional.Thank you for your answer. Perhaps I did not express myself well. The XP or Vista is not for my old IBM laptop, which runs already XP prof, but for my new to buy Mac Book. I will, when MS7 comes available, MS 7. So I like to know is it better to install XP or Vista on my new laptop Mac Book.

you can't install it over XP. you can do a clean install over XP... but that PRECLUDES any uninstall.Thank you BC_Programmer.

yes, an intriguing viewpoint. One would expect to run OS X on most of them.Thank you. To answer your question: price / quality. Living in Europe we, my friend who knows more about computers and I, searched the internet for a good price / quality laptop: HP, Asus, IBM etc. After comparing prices and performance the Mac Book came out best. Also Apple seem to have the latest technology when it comes to screen quality and enenrgy performances.

Since one can, without any problem, run Windows on a Mac Book I made the decision. Also it seems to be easy, when viruses are attacking through windows; I easily can change to Mac.

I hope my choice was the right one. Now my choice is … which OS – XP or Vista
XP ALTHOUGH the logical first choice will probably do fine on there...although a quick search of running Windows on the MacBook shows mostly success there are some headaches to be expected.
To choose Vista you need to consider the laptop specs...1G RAM would be minimum with Vista with anything more being a bonus.
Also you need to consider which flavor of Vista as there are 9 or 10 of them would SUIT your needs...with XP it's simple...XP Pro.
