Answer» Dell 4100 came with ME and I since did a clean install of XP Pro. That was 8 months ago. This past WEEKEND decided to SET Profiles for my family. The problem is that the machine/software REFUSES to "log-off" at random times. I look at my "running programs" (C-Alt-Del) and find no prog running. Other times the "login and log-out" work just fine. Is this a memory issue? I have 512. I have Panda PLATINUM 2005 and SP2. All update installed. The computer was running great before this. Why the hang-ups?Do you have spyware and adware scanners in place? If not try Ad Aware and Spybot (free if you google) and run in safe mode. Let us know what you find.Or, you could also tap at F8 in boot-up, and enter 'Best configuration'GX1_Man,
Did the safeMode boot and found 3 objects via SpyBot (FastClick, Win. Sec Center AV overrride and Win Sec Center Firewall override). AdAware SE found 17 objects.
Thanks, seems to have done the trick.Speedz,
I don't see "Best Config" on the Boot options page. Just Safe mode at the top and a listing of other options.
This IS a DELL after all...can do much that way.
Thanks.lol. I didn't mean best config. I couldn't remember what it was called. 'Best last known good configuration' is what i should've said My mistake. Spedz, that's OK...I didn't notice that one either, but could have missed it. I'll be back into the Safemode area very soon, being a "windows" OPERATION.
