Answer» Hello: Did some research on here and found information about (running sfc/scannow) that when asked to insert my xp pro CD that I should have the up-to-date version of SP 3, my original cd is sp 2 version 2002. HELP is it okay to just put in my original xp pro CD when scannow asks me too? See Here...all that to run 'scannow'?I'm not sure what your asking...scannow will only run with whatever SP you have installed...it's a Windows thing not mine... If you don't have the CURRENT SP's installed it will give you the error message you saw. I offered a SOLUTION...don't shoot the messenger.
Best of Luck.lol i would never shoot you lol you are much too important don't you know? Okay, sry, from the beginning. When I'm about to run scannow it asks for my xp CD which I have. But the CD is sp 2. I have updated my xp to sp3. I haven't run it with it because i read on here i need an updated CD pro with sp3 in order to do that. You just told me that is that case, is that correct. AND I can't therefore run scannow tyvm for any help really and truly Those instructions are for how to create one...
You could always borrow 1 though if you find it...I saw somewhere to download just xp pro sp 3 then maybe to try it when asked to insert my CD. The other THOUGHT was that my download of sp3 may have damaged, etc. files. Don't know anyone to borrow from. sryAll you needed to do was follow the guide i posted...DLoad SP3 and slipstream it into your Legit SP2 XP CD... Grabbing an XP SP3 download is a really bad idea...
20 minutes Tops...not ready to reinstall windows and/or take a chance the streamlining won't work :p tyvm Just can't do 'scannow' tyThe Guide linked to is from a Microsoft MVPS...they don't give that title out to just anyone... Other than following the guide then finding an XP CD including SP3 would be your 2nd best bet...Thank you, I'll have to live without 'scannow'. tyvm
