Solve : XP Pro SP2 wont finish installing?

Answer»

one of my desktops can't finish installing XP Pro SP2.

after reformatting and copying those setup files, the computer rebooted.

then, it gets stuck at the loading screen, and never moves again.

and after 5 minutes, the computer switches off by itself.

the disk WORKS; i've installed the OS on another computer. why does it not work on *THIS* Desktop?

Sys:
P4 3.2GHz
3GB RAM
X1650 ATI
Creative X-Fi (cant remember which model exactly)

lol, nope. all are from MS.Let me just make sure I have the sequence right. You boot to the cd, format the DRIVE, reboot and then nothing - is that it?Quote from: Allan on November 10, 2009, 04:18:46 PM

Okay, I'm at a loss - sorry. But your ANSWERS to my questions above aren't wasted - they may help someone else to help you.ah, btw, uprading/updating from disc after installation doesnt work.

i need to update to SP2 from the internet.I'd run HARD drive diagnostics.

You really need to stop posting misinformation. Every post you have made so far is bunk.i encountered that problem too before what i did is i CHANGE the memory card then install the OS then it works.. even though my card is new.

as i observe before, loading at driver.cab stuck up..
i don't have explanation why it does stuck up in there.. lolz

i hope that this will work for you too.
