Answer» HI all so I am building my first tower and everything has gone well so far. To save some money I was GOING to reuse a newer Hard drive I bought for an old computer. It had a working copy of XP on it. So I plugged it in and when I booted up my new system I got the bios page than it listed the devices and CPU and all that good stuff. Than a Windows screen appears and gives me the standard options of safe MODE, safe mode with networking, last known configuration, etc. So I have tried last known, safe mode and plain standard and all it does is reboot and start the entire process over and over again! What should I do ? Many thanks John :-/ johnachen2...... Windows is confused , it's looking for the old configuration which of course does exist any more . Simply dig out your real MS XP cd and reformat the drive and then it will install with no problem at all. dl65 do you think a real XP upgrade disc might work (i tried and got an error but i was trying to repair not reformat)?? I actualy LOST my full version I only have the upgrade disc. :-/It would work but you'd need an older copy of windows as well.
