Answer» I don't know why but for some reason when I try to reinstall windows by setting the cd drive as the 1st boot instead of floppy, where it gets to the point where it SAYS windows install will start after RESTART. But when it restarts nothing happens no install no nothing... I've gotten to the point where I have tried like 20 times and more, but still same results. HELP!Try cleaning the CD with a soft lint-free cloth... This is a genuine XP CD correct ? ? What were the troubles that led you to a re-install anyway ? ?My guess is something is messed up with your boot order. If its able to read the CD to get through the initial stages of setup but then when it restarts its unable to find the Disc with all the information on it, its not looking in the right place. How many drives do you have in your computer and which one are you installing XP on? Its possible your computer is looking towards the wrong drive in your boot order.Have you tried your BIOS default settings?If it is getting all the way to the restart phase of the installation there is nothing wrong with the boot order.hmm so wat should i try doing now? Aren't you pressing ''any key'' every time is says ''Press any key to boot from CD'' ? If you do, then don't. It is needed only once. hmm I dont know it!! after it says windows will install after reboot it never happens! It just reboots the computer and no install. It appears to me that you are not using Full OEM XP Disk, are you using a recovery disk that came with the computer as these do not have a boot up sector on them. You can use any XP but use the key number that's on your computer when you get to that part of the installation.Some Any information about the hardware, age, etc. could be helpful.Its one of those dell cds that came with the computer. Its says window reinstall on it. I wish I could get you some more info but it's my cousins computer which is all the way in CALI. I'll try to get some info off him but he probably doesn't know what HES talking about.

It appears to me that you are not using Full OEM XP Disk, are you using a recovery disk that came with the computer as these do not have a boot up sector on them.
