Answer» Hello
I am currently using a Dell Dimension 2300. Recently we had a problem and reloaded windows xp with the original cd. Once we had DONE this it needed updating to service pack 2. I updated it via the microsoft website and once complete had problems with the display. it looked similar to safe mode however upon restarting it still stayed in this mode. The display was 4 bit colour and i COULDNT change the resolution. Everything like the internet and all other programs were still working fine just all a strange colour. I have now uninstalled service pack TWO and the normal colours are back again.
However i still cant change the screen resolution from 16 bit 640x480 pixels. All the icons are very large!
Does anybody have any ideas. Any advice much appreciated! You need to install graphics card drivers. If your computer came with a driver disk put that in. Do you know what model of graphics card it came with?http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R79733&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_2300&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2441&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=2&formatcnt=1&libid=6&fileid=104486Thank you for your help. The problem i have is that the monitor isnt a dell monitor anymore. its a MAG INNOVISION Monitor. I tried downloading the software from their internet sight but it wont load. In the control panel, display, settings.advanced, monitor tab i cant change anything either. Can i download any graphics card or do i have to download the one that goes with the monitor. I am very sorry i but i ont understand too much when it comes to computers. I have seen the downloads page on the Dell website. What is the item called that i should download?
Many thanks for your helpSorry Street1 i didnt see you link. i wil try that first and then come back if its still not working. thank you and kind regardsMost monitors don't even need drivers installed....it is the video drivers you want to concentrate on.
patio. 8-)The graphics card is inside your computer, and not the same thing as the monitor. Do you need help finding out what model you have?
