Solve : XP Shutdown trouble?

Answer»

When I go to shutdown my computer after start, turn off computer and turn off buttons it starts to SHUT down then closing program ccApp appears briefly then it does not do anything for about a minute then a program not responding appears with "cardreaderlookup".I then must click on end program and then the computer shuts down.
Any ideas on how to clear up this problem?
Computer shut down normally a few weeks ago.
ThanksHow often has this HAPPENED or did it just happen once?  Were you playing or using an application and then decide to shutdown?  And if so did you have a problem with the appplication or program?  Did you close that program before shutting down? This happens every night when I shut it down.
I close all programs.
I close my browser, AT&T/YaHoo DSL .Then close the internet connection.
I don't see anything else running on my toolbar.
Every once in a while I get a message "Browser has encountered a problem and must shut down"
Duster.....  What operating system are you using ?

Do you have any apps made by Intiut ........installed , like Quickbooks or Turbotax ?
How long has this been going on ?   ( you mentioned a few weeks ....) Have you installed any new software back about the same time ?

I have XP,and have Turbo tax 2003 and 2004 still installed on my computer.
Also IE7 is installed. My browser is ATT/Yahoo and every once in a while I get a message "browser has encountered trouble and must shut down"
I think that ATT/Yahoo uses a modified version of IE.And that IE6 and IE7 both produce that error message? Both produce the same message.Error log sent to Microsoft.
Message back from Microsoft says that problem is the ATT/Yahoo browser and to update browser.
Since I updated browser and IE7 self-installed I've had this problem.I am still having trouble shutting down.
Now I only get the ccApp after I hit the shutdown computer button. It sits for about a minute and a half and then finally shuts down.
Any ideas?Any Norton apps on this machine ? ?

patio.  8-)I have Norton Internet Security 2006 installed. This is likely the culprit...how long do you have left on that subscription ? ?180 days:(  Have had alot of strange trouble since INSTALLING this.It even freezes up when trying to access the norton program itself. When it freezes you cannot shut down pc at all and must use the reset  to restart pc.Never had a problem with norton products before but after this I will never purchase any more of their products again.
Other that uninstalling this is there any way to get rid of these problems?Instructions on removing the Norton virus:

DLoad  the tool below...

Norton Removal Tool

1) Use Add Remove Programs first and un-install Norton...
2) From Windows Explorer search for any folders named Norton and Symantec and delete them...
3) DLoad and install ERUNT and have it make a backup of your registry...
4) Open regedit and type Norton in the search bar. Delete all entries it finds. F3 takes you to the next  instance of Norton. Continue til you have reached the end of the registry...
5) Repeat the above process using Symantec instead in the search field. Delete any Symantec keys it finds...
6) Now run the Norton Removal tool you DLoaded...
7) Empty the recycle BIN...
Go to My Computer and right clik the C: drive and select Properties and run disk cleanup...
9) Re-boot and run disk defrag....

There you're done !

See how easy Symantec makes it for you to dump their product ? ?

I suggest AVG Free and AVG Anti-Spyware as a strong replacement...
