Solve : XP start up hangs after RAM installation? |
|
Answer» XP is hanging when starting up after installing new RAM for Dell Dimension 8300. I've tried going back to just the old RAM with no luck. Safe Mode works fine and has been keeping me going for now. It shows the new RAM and I've tried programs to test it and it seems to be fine. System Restore hasn't helped any either. Starting up with boot logging it appears to stop loading DRIVERS at this point: What RAM and where did you get it (be as specific as possible!) REMOVED and reseated. It is recognized in the BIOS. Ran memtest on each sets of RAM as well as all of it without any errors. I got the RAM from DELL. I got 2 512MB DDR 400MHz non-ECC that was recommended for my system. the system already had 2 256MB sticks in it. They are installed in the right ORDER as well. I did add a new DVD burner and Firewire card last weekend, but the computer had been working fine after that. I had also done a BIOS update, installed Nero that came with the DVD burner and Ulead Video Studio that cam with the Firewire card. This was all a few days before installing the RAM and everything was fine. Thanks for the help so far. I appreciate it very MUCH. |
