Read CCleaner instruction here: http://www.jahewi.nl/ccleaner/ccleaner.html, and run CCleaner
Restart, and let me know about startup time.

It's not a startup after boot issue, it's a boot issue, you know the page where it's black background says windows xp with the loading bars. That page is there for an extensive amount of time. It used to be around 15 seconds, now it's almost 2 minutes.
The day this issue arrived at first it booted fine quick 15 seconds or so. Then I installed the windows update, rebooted, and then all of a sudden it TOOK around 2 minutes to boot.
I quoted a previous post of mine to show you that I already said that I ran CCleaner.How is booting in Safe Mode?My computer gives me no option to boot into safe mode. Also, now XP is having trouble detecting my dvd drives. Now it only detects my drive and not my burner, and sometimes it wont detect either one after reboot. Windows is really starting to piss me off. I think it's about time to go Mac or Linux.
Forgot to mention Phoenix Bios RECOGNIZES both drives.
I also just opened the case and unhooked both drives and hdd and hooked them back up. Still not recognizing.
DVD burner drive does not show up in device manager.I just restored to 18 days ago, xp boots in 9 seconds. So i guess that's my route. Thanks anyway.As you said, maybe one of updates.That obviously wasn't the culprit. The restore worked until I started to install the disc that came with the mobo. Then after reboot xp took FOREVER to boot. So now I'm reformatting drive, and im not using the quick option this time. My HDD has never been formatted without using the quick option. It may be a problem with the mobo, which sucks because it's brand new. Anyway, I will post something after I do a clean install.We'll be here.Did a clean install and xp booted quickly. I then installed the drivers from the disc that came with the mobo, and all of a sudden xp boots slowly again. The blue bars travel across the screen exactly 75 times before the boot but, once xp does boot my pc starts up extremely fast. Before I installed the chipset drivers the blue bars only traveled across around 15 times, which is the way it used to always be until yesterday it mysteriously started taking longer. This really aggrivates me, especially because I just did a clean install. Oh well, that's Windows for ya.
Problem is now SOLVED. It was just issues with the nvidia chipset drivers. I downloaded the latest installers from the net completely uninstalled old drivers, and then installed new ones. XP boots quickly and normally again. Thanks for all of the attempted help and gained knowledge. Nice job
