Answer» LOOKING to finally UPGRADE my dinosaur, the computer I have am getting has Vista my old pc has XP. I transferred all important files, pics, etc to an extra internal HD. Now the ? is can I just umplug it and plug it in the new computer and use it or will it not be recognized? And if it I can do it what do I need to do? thanks alot PeteProvided the external hdd is recognised on the new pc, and it should be without PROBLEM, you should be able to access all files. However you may have to "Take Ownership" of the folders/files. SEE here.. GOOD luck.Quote to an extra internal HDPut it into USB hard drive enclosure, plug it in, and you should be good to go.Quote from: Broni on January 28, 2009, 07:14:00 PM Quoteto an extra internal HDPut it into USB hard drive enclosure, plug it in, and you should be good to go.
