Solve : xp will not install updates?

I HAVE RAN CHKDSK,ALSO INSTALLED LATEST UPDATE AGENT. WHEN I RUN UPDATES THEY ALL SAY FAILED . EVERY DAY THE DOWNLOAD SHIELD COMES UP IN THE TASKBAR AND ALWAYS SHOWS ZERO COMPLETE. I HAVE NO SPYWARE OR VIRUS THAT I KNOW OF. I RAN SUPERANTISPYWARE AND MALWAREBYTES, SHOWED CLEAN. I HAVE 152 MBS OF UPDATES TO INSTALL. HOPES SOMEONE CAN HELP. THANKS, MACKCannot Install updates:

*Don't used all cap letters on your next post.I went to the support site you gave me and ran the auto fix with no luck. After i did that with no results , they said to TRY 1 through 5 different methods. The 1st method said GO to control panel , adminastration tools. There were no tools at all, so i did not get to first base. Do you know how i can get my tools?What MS support site did you followed? ]
