Answer» Hi all,
I was using Windows XP SP3 at home for doing school homework. My PC was connected to the Internet when I was typing words on MS Words, and I did not launch any other applications except the Firefox 13.0.01. I found that my PC would disconnect my PC from the Internet when I did not use the browser to browse any webs for 5 minutes. If I left the browser idle WITHOUT doing any searching or browsing, then I would not be able to connect to the Internet after 5 minutes. That's weird, because I had not ENCOUNTERED this kind of problem when I was using XP SP2 a few months back.
Could someone help me please?
THANK you Kitty. While researching on your behalf i found this comprehensive responce with a number of applicable possible solutions. Please give them a try and report back. While this is a member of another forum i believe that person is also a long standing member of the CH forums as well. "Broni

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one: IPCONFIG /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /RELEASE ipconfig /renew
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work... Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in: cmd Click OK.
At Command Prompt, type in: netsh int ip reset reset.log Hit Enter. Type in: netsh winsock reset catalog Hit Enter.
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work... Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network...inSockFix.shtml Restart computer, and check again. Goodluck and keep us informed, truenorth

Is it possible that FF is trying to update? Latest version of FF is 18.0.1.

Incorrect. It's fully support on XP-SP3. I'm using it now on XP-SP3.
