Solve : Standby mode causes CPU to overheat?

Answer» <html><body><p>I recently <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/installed-499454" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about INSTALLED">INSTALLED</a> the program <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/nircmd" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about NIRCMD">NIRCMD</a> and have been using it to standby and unknowingly hibernate my comp. I noticed that after using this software my CPU fan would turn off during standby. When I would resume from standby my comp would sometimes <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/freeze-25684" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about FREEZE">FREEZE</a> and BSOD. I <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/felt-456915" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about FELT">FELT</a> the CPU heatsink after standby and it was boiling hot.<br/><br/>I think that this program is the culprit, but I'm not sure. I think somehow my standby mode was changed, but my BIOS doesn't have any <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/power-2475" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about POWER">POWER</a> options. I have tried power options in windows also with no luck. Can any one tell me how I can change these modes so that my CPU doesn't overheat during standby? This might be a silly question, but why not just use the Windows hibernate/sleep modes?<br/>Your CPU fan should turn off in standby, but it sounds like your CPU is still working which isn't right.<br/>What motherboard do you have?Quote from: Linux711 on July 25, 2010, 10:03:26 PM</p><blockquote>I have tried power options in windows also with no luck.<br/></blockquote>You can't use either Standby or Hibernation, in Windows? Are they shown on the Shutdown menu? What happens when you try to use them?Quote from: soybean on July 26, 2010, 11:13:46 AM<blockquote>You can't use either Standby or Hibernation, in Windows?
