The Tyranny of Noise

The world is growing more and more noisy. Noise tells upon our nerves. It lessens our efficiency and it disturbs our sleep. It has made our ears less sensitive. Noise also creates tension in our mind. The lowering of efficiency lowers the quantity and quality of production. Formerly, there was always a loud noise of machines in the factories. But now, because of its adverse effect on efficiency, the factories are managing to lesssen this menace of noise.

Industries are spending large sums to solve the growing problem of noise. Trees and shrubs have helped a great deal in solving this problem. The walls are now sound-proof. Machines are being kept rubber mounted. These efforts have improved the quantity and quality of our products. Now there is much talk about noise pollution. Noise also spoils the serenity and calmness of our environment. People shall have now to fight against noise as they fight against the bacteria of diseases.

शोरगुल के दुष्परिणाम

विश्व तो आज अधिकाधिक शोरगुल से ग्रस्त होता जा रहा है। शोरगुल तो हमारे स्नायुतंत्रों को भी कुप्रभावित करता है। यह हमारी कुशलता को कम करता है तथा हमारी नींद को भी खराब करता है। इस शोरगुल ने तो हमारे कानों की संवेदनशीलता ही कम कर दी है। शोरगुल से हमारे मस्तिष्क में भी तनाव रहता है। हमारी कार्यकुशलता पर विपरीत प्रभाव पड़ता है। कार्यकुशलता में कमी आने से उत्पादन के परिमाणात्मकता तथा गुणात्मकता पर भी कुप्रभाव पड़ता है। पहले के समय तो कल-कारखानों में हमेशा ही बहुत जोर का शोर हुआ करता था। लेकिन अब इसका हमारी कार्यकुशलता पर कुप्रभाव पड़ने के कारण कल-कारखाने भी शोरगुल के इस खतरे को कम करने का प्रबन्ध कर रहे हैं।

कल-कारखाने तथा उद्योग शोरगुल की समस्या को हल करने के लिए काफी बड़ी मात्रा में धन व्यय कर रहे हैं। पेड़ तथा घास-फूसों ने भी इस समस्या को हल करने में काफी मदद की है। दीवारें अब ध्वनि के कुप्रभावों से सुरक्षित प्रकार की होती हैं। मशीनों के शोरगुल को कम करने के लिए उन पर रबड़ चढ़ाकर रखी जाती है। इससे हमारे उत्पादनों के परिमाण तथा गुणात्मकता पर अच्छा प्रभाव पड़ा है। अब तो ध्वनि प्रदूषण के बारे में खूब चर्चा होती है। शोरगुल हमारे वातावरण की शान्ति तथा पवित्रता को भंग करता है। व्यक्तियों को तो अब शोरगुल के विरुद्ध इस प्रकार लड़ना होगा जैसे कि किसी बीमारी के कीटाणुओं को मारने के लिए कोई लड़ाई लड़ी जाती है।
