Solve : virtual memory? |
| Answer» <html><body><p>I'm running windows 2000, and when I start up the computer there is a pop-up that says i dnot have any virtual memory left. i hit the ok button and then it tells me it wants to shut down. If i let it shut down it starts up on its owna nd does the exact same thing.<br/>I tried closing <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/come-409636" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about COME">COME</a> applications from the task manager, becuase it was all i could get to. Once i closed some appications the desktop icons appeared and i could open some programs although it was running very slowly. <br/>I ran norton windoctor, and it said there was a program missing "dotnetinstaller". I tried to run the virus scanner it it wouldnt, it said pieces of norton where missing and i had to uninstall norton and reinstall it, but i do not have a cd for norton. You should download AVG Free Edition anti-virus and uninstall Norton which uses a lot of system resources. You can also use Zone Alarm Free Firewall as I do on XP Pro.<br/><br/>If you download SpyBot SD, AdAware SE and <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/spywareblaster" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about SPYWAREBLASTER">SPYWAREBLASTER</a> you should be able to keep your system clean and remove DOTNET.<br/><br/>Most of us use all three programs.<br/><br/>Problems with virual memory ... might ... be caused by faulty or badly seated RAM modules. Virtual memory mimicks RAM and if the RAM is faulty then you will need a lot of virtual memory.<br/><br/>How much RAM do you have?
