Solve : Vista Media Center can't detect TV Tuner?

Answer»

I purchased a Gateway Media CENTER running Vista about 4 months ago. I played around with Media Center to get used to it. At the time Media Center was able to detect my Avermedia TV tuner without any problems, although I did not have an antenna to connect to the tuner. Now I have an antenna, but when I go to SET up a signal in Media Center I get the message "No TV Tuner detected". I've reinstalled the tuner driver and made sure it's the latest version. I've also tried a hotfix that specifically addressed some of my symptoms but nothing has worked. Device Manager also indicates that the tuner is working. I would prefer not having to reinstall Vista. Please HELP. Go Start. In Start search, type in:
services.msc
Hit Enter.
There are 4 Windows Media Center services listed. See, if all of them are running. Thanks for the reply. I've found threads about the services status before, but hadn't had much luck. Lets give it another go. Here is what it looks like.

Status Startup Type
Extender Service Disabled
Receiver Service Manual
Scheduler Service Started Manual
Service Launcher Automatic (delayed start)

There is no status listing for 3 of the 4 services. What NEXT?
Remember those settings.
Now, set all of them to Automatic.
Restart computer, and see what happens.I changed them all to automatic and restarted the computer. Before I opened Media Center I checked to see which services had started and the only ones were the Extender and Scheduler Services. I opened Media Center and still have the same error. I then tried right clicking on the Receiver Services and clicking Start. I got an error message that it failed to start the service. Any more ideas? Thanks. Is that card listed in Device Manager without any errors? It says it's working properly.TRY to put it in different slot. Try to uninstall it through Device Manager (not its driver, card itself). Windows will find it again upon reboot.
I opened the computer case but the tuner is in the only slot it can fit into.Try to uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, the only other advice, I can give you, is to try it on another computer. Maybe, it died.Thanks.
