Solve : Vista's Defragmenter too simple?

Answer» <html><body><p>Hi all. I recently bought a notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. I've removed some unwanted programs, ran Disk Cleanup, and, just today, ran Defragmenter. I found Vista's Defragmenter to be very simple. It has no Analyze option and provides no report when finished. It shows no <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/indication-1041508" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about INDICATION">INDICATION</a> of progress during defragmentation, no <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/percentage-13406" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about PERCENTAGE">PERCENTAGE</a>-completed indicator. The only way you know that it's finished is that the button to start defragmentation changes to Cancel Defragmentation while it's defragmenting and then changes back to "Defragment now" when done. <br/><br/>Have any of you Vista users installed some other defragmenter? If so, what?<br/>I just use the command prompt. Here are some switches:<br/>-c Defragments all drives<br/>-a Analyses the drives and gives you a report <br/>-r Only defragments files that are smaller than 64MB in size.<br/>-w Defragments all files regardless of size.<br/>-f <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/forces-16875" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about FORCES">FORCES</a> Disk Defragmenter to defragment drives with less than 15% of hard drive space left.<br/>-v Display a complete report.I believe DisKeeper Lite will run on Vista....it's a free version.<br/>The only crippled feature is the scheduler.Thanks, Soviet Genius, for that info. I think I'll try using Windows defragmenter that way. I see that I the Command Prompt screen requires that it be run as administrator and that I can open it in that mode by right clicking on Command Prompt on the Programs menu and selecting "Run as administrator". <br/><br/>patio, I'll keep DisKeeper in mind.
