Solve : Vista SP1?

Answer»

Just for your information : My system - Vista home basic ... I received the SP1 update on March 28, My system locked up. It would get to the 3 of 3 100% than reboot .. and POW!! locked up at windows start screen (with no letters at bottom of screen) Tried 4 times ..each time with the same result. Got in contact with Microsoft - spent 4 hours on the phone with thire tech people and the system still LOCKED UP. There tech PERSON told me that they were having problems with many systems (guess he should 'nt have told me that). I received a call April 11 to set up a retry of SP1 from tech support in the USA. I just Can not wait to lock up again.... Is anyone having a similar problem? Good Day all; Just an update on the original post. Microsoft called April 15 and ran SP1 again ... guess what! locked up again. They are sending me a Vista install CD for clean install .. They also ran a system check (you know registry etc.) on the system .. found NO PROBLEMS!! The saga continues .... Robit [b/b]Good to hear they are being proactive with the situation and willing to get involved...
Just CURIOUS do you have an nVidia vid CARD in that system ? ?

Good Luck with the re-install and maybe leave SP1 out for a bit to see if they release a revision.Thanx Patio; Actually I have to call them before I install ..I think they want to view the event. I had a ECS8800GTX but the driver was a mess (169.44) you know that Video driver not responding thing. SINCE then I have the XFX9800 Gx2 with the 174.74 driver (not the driver which came with it) and I am impressed with the performance. Thanx again, I'll keep all informed as to the out come ... RobitAgain - Good Day to all! The update goes like this ... Haven't heard a word from Microsoft for a week now ... was to send a CD .... didn't get CD ... sent email ... no response ... this is not good ... my system has been acting rather poorly since there last try SP1 install ... THE SAGA CONTINUES .....Keep us posted.I'd wait a week or two longer for microsoft to send you the cd. It may have already been sent out or microsoft's kind of busy. But if you don't receive it within a month, then I'd suggest you go the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and complain that Microsoft ripped you off and did not send you cd as promised! This will be the last update, I hope - I received the Vista home basic CD on April 21 ... This is the full Version with SP1 included ... Went to install and found that the "keep files and settings was disabled" ... Why? I don't know! went ahead and backed up the system (which I do anyway) ... All appears well, but no noticeable performance increase ... I would like to note that I did have some issues with the NEW 500gb drive, Vista didn'T want to move some apps over to it. It was "*censored*" resetting all my settings. Thanx to all that were interested in the "SAGA". By the way, Microsoft totaly disappeared - I mean I couldn't contact them and they never responded to my emails....Whatever!!!Unreal.
It's a shame you had to struggle so much just to update your machine....
I'm also dissappointed in there sudden lack of interest.
For what it's worth i've had nothing but good success when dealing with the Mothership.

Anyways glad to hear you are back up and running...that's the important thing.
And thanx for letting us know !Hi! Patio, can't understand it myself ... most of my dealings with MS were good ... well maybe one person had a bad day. By the way - I loaded the last of my programs today ... system is back to live action again ... Thanx for your interest ... Robit
