So does XP load? You said it wasn't fully installed, does it load at all? I find your post jumps all over the place. First you start by saying that it only plays music, then you say XP wasn't installed all the way. Well if XP wasn't installed all the way you wouldn't know about the CDRW only playing music. Because XP wouldn't load into the GUI.

Where did you change the boot order at? In the BIOS? I'll need more and clearer information before I can tell you what the problem may be.

Is it the XP Windows cd or just a recovery cd? Yeah, Mystik is right. Please be more specific.

You can enter BIOS striking DEL continiously at startup. Then DUE to your PC model Advanced BIOS Setting or whatever... Choose first boot device.

And don't forget to check the link I mentioned above.Actually to enter the BIOS varies. It could be a few different buttons. It depends on the make of the BIOS. Quote

Actually to enter the BIOS varies. It could be a few different buttons. Quote
easy to read an understand

Look for Merlin_2, he speaks the same language as you.
OK SS ABOUT MY JUMPING AROUND.

XP DOES LOAD BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A FEW

PROBLEMS,, LIKE THE CDRW FOR INSTANCE IT WILL

PLAY BUT ITS LIKE A SCRATCHED RECORD ,,BUT IT WILL

NOT READ A DATA CD AS IN RECOVERY CD, I WILL HOOK

IT UP IN MORNING AN RUN BELARC AN POST MAYBE

EVEN HIJACK ALSO,, IT WILL NOT CONNECT THRU

DSL ,,I TRIED EVERYTHING I KNOW ,,I'M NOT AN EXPERT

BUT I HAVE CHANGED OUT MY OWN CDRW'S AN

HARDDRIVE BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BOOT

FROM FLOPPY,, WHEN I RAN BELARC THATS HOW I

FOUND OUT IT HAD SP3 ON IT

I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP N SUGGESTIONS I

RECEIVE,,Obviously your Caps Lock key got stuck also.

Why don't you just format the drive and reinstall your legal copy of Windows XP? There is no service pack 3, by the way.
I have heard of an 'unofficial' SP3 for Windows XP. Do you happen to know where this Service Pack 3 comes from? It's a collection of several MS updates PLUS who knows what else. It is definitely NOT from Microsoft. Isaw the link and went to one of the web sites that "has" it, but was totally unimpressed. I have now filed the URL in my useless information lobe of the brain, which is unaccessible. That's what you think. I have retrieved it from the supposedly useless information lobe of your brain, which is accessible to all of us with the ability to hack into other people's thought waves and dig out as much useless trivia as we can find.

As evidence of this extraordinary claim I shall post the evidence here...http://www.thehotfix.net

I would recommend that you add a tinfoil lining to your hat and wear it permanently.
