Solve : Windows 2000 Server Install? |
Answer» <html><body><p>Will Windows 2000 Server install over (<a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/upgrade-1440168" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about UPGRADE">UPGRADE</a>) Windows XP Pro? I bought a new server this week, and it came with XP Pro. I didn't know until I had installed the server that only 10 users <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/could-410026" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about COULD">COULD</a> connect at one time using XP. We have 13 users, and we were using 2000 Server. It looks as though I'll have to reformat and install 2000 Server, unless I can do an upgrade. Our server is a file server only, we aren't using any Client/Server applications. Has anyone ever tried to upgrade XP Pro with Windows 2000 Server? Does anyone know a workaround to the 10 user limit on XP?Try downloading this patch incase you have SP2:<br/><a href="https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=17d997d2-5034-4bbb-b74d-ad8430a1f7c8&displaylang=en">http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=17d997d2-5034-4bbb-b74d-ad8430a1f7c8&displaylang=en</a><br/><br/>If the 10 connections limit is <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/related-1183031" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about RELATED">RELATED</a> to TCP connetion limit which is the limit in XP, then there's another patch to increase the TCP connections to <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/50-237660" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about 50">50</a>.Many thanks for that info. It does appear that the problem is related to the TCP connection. Do you have the info for the patch that increases connectivity to 50?<br/><br/>I can't believe how useless Microsoft support was on this issue!</p></body></html> | |
